Quick Catch Up

I barely write on this blog lately, so I figured I’ll just write a few things that have been happening. Here we go...
Long story short, I am now in my final year at college. Most universities in Indonesia required the final year students to do a research, like undergraduate thesis. So, as any other normal senior year students, I am now working on my undergraduate thesis. Yesterday I had my proposal seminar, there were two professors asking me things about my proposal in front of a bunch of audience, which I think I nailed it. Though, there were a few revisions regarding the research background which according to both of the professors who questioned me was not really to the point. I get it, I might’ve exaggerating the first few pages with all the insights and pre-research observation, so I’m revising it now as I’m writing this blog and I’m planning on having it all done by tomorrow morning. I need to finish this in two weeks so that I can graduate right on time. I have had enough with college; I just want to get out of here as fast as I can.
I also have been taking TOEFL preparation class and Spanish class. Besides working on my thesis, I don’t really have anything else to do, so I signed up for those two classes. I hope by the time I graduate, I’ll also have my TOEFL certificate and at least can speak a little bit of Spanish.
Speaking of which, I remember the first time I took my TOEFL, I was 16 years old and I got a total score of 476, which wasn't too bad for a high school student. The second time was two years after and I got 530, which was way above average and I was a bit surprise as I thought I wasn't that good. The third time I took TOEFL was in 2011, I got 570. And then again, I took the last one about a month ago, and I got 593! I startled. And beyond happy, of course.
Since 2009, I haven’t been listening to any kind of Indonesian songs; I limit myself to only listen to English-speaking songs. I don’t watch local channels, I only watch English-speaking channels preferably American TV shows and with no subtitles on. I even train my brain to think in English language, not Indonesian. I read news only from the website of Huffington Post, Bloomberg, LA Times, LinkedIn, Financial Times, etc. I can name you all the 50 states in the USA, but I don’t even have a clue of who the Parliament Head of Indonesia is. I can talk to you about Obamacare, Twitter’s IPO, Nelson Mandela’s passing, Virgin’s CEO Richard Branson loses a bet to Air Asia’s GCEO Tony Fernandes, Obama’s SOTU speech, Stan Wawrinka beat world’s number 1 and 2 on his way to became the champion of Australian Open, or even for the fact that KIA’s Executive Thomas Oh has been repeating the same speech over the years of Australian Open (Yes, Mr. Oh, despite the cute accent you have, I can hear every words you say loud and clear every year). But if you’re trying to talk to me about what’s been happening in Indonesia lately, my honest answer will be “I have no idea”.
So, for all the hard work I've been doing for 5 years, I think I deserve to achieve the high scores that TOEFL can possibly offer. Why do I have to take another TOEFL preparation class despite the 593 score I got? Well, back to basic human nature of in-satisfaction, and as a human, I’m not easily satisfied with 593. If I can make it 650, why not?

'Sup

Whatsup! I know it's been a month since my last post, don't blame me for not writing frequently, blame my professors!

What am I doing this early in the morning? Oh, it's 4:20 AM here in the east side of the world. Since this semester, I have a whole lot of different strategy. Last year I always work on my assignments and study right after I'm home which is at 6PM; that's the time when I always got stuck and can't think clearly because of the exhaustion. So, now I decided that after I'm home, I only have dinner and take a shower then sleep before 8PM. After 6 hours of sleep, I have to get up at 2 AM and work on my bloody college assignments and read books until 5:30AM where I have to take shower and took off from the house at 6AM to take my mom to her office.

Sounds boring? I KNOW! It's killing me that I can only sleep for 6 hours every workday. I sleep for more than that on the weekend as a revenge hahahahaha... Last Sunday, I slept for 11 hours, eat that!

Oh my oh my... I'm very well aware that I promised so many things in my last post but I totally can't make it all up to y'all in this post. I'll try my best later (not promise) *fingerscrossed*

Btw, Google Chrome, you better fixed yourself of not freezing every web page that I visited by saying Oops or I'll uninstall you and only use safari or mozilla for the rest of my sane life.

Lots of love,
Nita

Spring Semester Is Here, Bring It On!

WHO'S READY FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING SEMESTER? ME!

I spent my entire Sunday watching the whole episodes of Gossip Girl season 4 (again and again, this is the 1,000,000th time haha) and then at 11PM watched the premiere of Catfish on MTV.

It's 7:08 AM on Monday now, I'm so excited for the first day of spring semester, butterflies all over my stomach. I'm taking 9 classes in total of 22 credits this semester:
  • Accounting Information System
  • Management Accounting Lab
  • Intermediate Accounting Lab
  • Business Feasibility Study
  • Management Control System
  • Financial Reporting Analysis
  • Strategy Management
  • Cost Management
  • Auditing II.
The next 6 months gonna be busier than ever!
I'll let you know how my first day goes later...
Til then...  xoxoxo

I'm Busy.....Sleeping

The crazy hectic days of school have finally over; no more staying up late working on crazy assignments, papers, and stuffs. No more rejections from the professors – yes, one of my research paper was rejected by a professor of mine and it was the most annoying time in my life because I literally had no one to help me to cope with it. January 2013 is officially the worst times of my life. I barely slept at night; I worked on the assignments until 2-3 in the morning then got up at 5AM (I need to get up early to take my mom to her office). I got home at 6PM and then starts to work on the assignments again, study again for the final exams and stuffs.

IT IS ALL OVER!!!! One semester down, I have 2 semesters to go!!!!

I’ve been hibernating inside my room enjoying the art of doing nothing since last week. And I’m gonna enjoy another week of spring break before the new semester begins in February 18. Sleep, eat, watch cable tv (I love AXN, MTV, Universal, HBO, Trace Urban, NatGeo, Bloomberg, Channel News Asia, Lotus Macau, Nickelodeon, NatGeo Wild, etc).

I’ll come up with a better post later when I am able to gather my mood. Until then, ciaooooo…..

Stay Up Late

I slept at 3.30 AM last night and woke up at 5 AM this morning which means I only had one and a half hour of sleep.

It wasn't because I went partying or anything, but it was because I worked on my college assignments. I have done three assignments so far: (1) summary of science philosophy chapter one, (2) nine-pages of auditor profesional ethics and code of conduct paper, and (3) crosswords for English literature class.

The last one is a piece of cake, but writing a paper of auditor profesional ethics and code of conduct from AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) is definitely not that easy. Not to mention my nephew, Ipin, kept bugging me, hitting on the computer keyboard randomly, teasing me to play with him and stuffs. I actually really wanted to play with him as he's gonna go home to Manado (one and a half hour flying from here) next Saturday but I'm being chased by deadlines so I kind of ignored him instead.

There are still three assignments that I haven't done yet: (1) paper and presentation of International Accounting Harmonization for International Accounting class due on Oct 12, (2) paper of Tax Treaty between Indonesia and the United States of America due on Oct10, and (3) 'Implementation of Signaling Theory Towards Corporate Action' presentation for Accounting Seminar class due on Oct 23.

This morning while I was browsing for tax treaty between Indonesia and the USA, my mom and uncle Wulan argued over stupid things as always; my uncle is an ignorant and my mom is bad tempered, they make the perfect World War III trigger. I wonder when will I ever have a nice, peaceful, and quiet morning so I can enjoy the weekend eventhough I have to work on college stuffs.

My sister, Santy, and Ipin is sleeping in the guest room right now. I got stuck when writing for Research Methodology class's paper and that's why I'm writing this totally random and annoying post. I'M DESPERATELY IN NEED OF INSPIRATION!!!

Ahhhh... right

I know!!! It's been long since my last post.
As the new semester of college started about three weeks ago, I've been crazily caught up with assignments (tons of them). I'm taking 24 credits, consist of 9 subjects:
  • Audit Management -- 3 credits
  • Internal Audit -- 3 credits
  • English Literature -- 2 credits
  • Accounting Seminars -- 3 credits
  • Introduction to Auditing -- 2 credits (I actually retake this class, I failed last semester haha)
  • Research Methodology -- 3 credits
  • Science Philosophy -- 2 credits
  • International Accounting -- 3 credits
  • Accounting Theory -- 3 credits
I literally sleep at 11 PM or 1 AM for having my assignments done and then wake up at 4 AM to read the materials for the day then left to campus at 6.30AM and got home at 5.30 PM, take a light shower, working on my assignments and read books again until 11PM or 1AM -- EVERY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY!
I spend my Saturday having assignments done and reading some books related to auditing (I've been really into auditing at the moment). My Sunday is all about sleep, I recharge my energy in order to get ready for the long week.

Oh, I have another nephew three weeks ago! My middle sister gave birth to her first baby boy after four years of marriage. My nephew's name is Naufal Nadhirrizky Supangkat. I haven't had a chance to see Naufal in person because I live in different city with my sister and the only way to get to my sister's city is by flying with plane for 2 hours. Here's a picture of my lovely beautiful nephew:
